Who’s Your Daddy?
By The Gospel Blog | Jun. 15, 2026
The human family. God’s beautiful design. Man and woman…created in His image. God blessed our first parents, telling them to be fruitful and multiply. Welcome, precious children! The family unit is designed to be the microcosm of Christ and His love for His Bride, the Church. God describes the blessing of children in Psalm 127:3: “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” God thought of every detail as He formed and knitted you and me together. He proclaimed that His creation was very good! He knew that good parents would be crucial to the success of every child.
Everyone in the family plays a special role, but today I want to focus on one very important member of the family unit: the father. So the question begs to be asked, “Who’s your daddy?!” Well, if you were blessed to have a loving and present father in your life, then your mind immediately floods with warm thoughts of your dad and all the good and impactful moments you have shared together. If you were not as fortunate as to have a loving father, or maybe your father did not play an active role in your life, if at all, then you may be left with feelings of hurt, loss, or emptiness. You may have gone your entire life with thoughts of inadequacy or a deep longing to be loved and wanted that went unfulfilled. Whichever side of the fence you find yourself on, I want you to understand something today — you have always been blessed with the perfect loving Father, Abba; your all-loving, always-present dad. Jesus used the Aramaic term, Abba, meaning Father, Daddy, or Papa. This addresses God with intimacy, trust, and affection. We find in scripture several references where God is addressed with this familiar term, Abba. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Christ is praying to the Father, and He cries out to Abba to have this cup pass from Him. Also, in Romans and Galatians, Paul extends this same privilege to all believers to refer to God as Abba, Father. This is a huge relief to know that Abba Father stands in the gap for all father/child relationships, including those who grew up without knowing the love of a father. This is very important to understand because how you view God the Father will influence everything you think about yourself, who you are today, and who you will become in the future. This is profound because it is foundational to our relationship with God and man. We all navigate the world with a personal viewpoint of who we are and whose we are. We can position ourselves in a right place before God when we have an understanding of this perfect loving Father. God is known by many names, and truly, he is the great “I AM,” but today let’s focus on God, the good and perfect Father. Is God the Father loving? YES “The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” (Jeremiah 31:3)
Is God the Father close to me? YES “The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.” (Psalm 145:18)
Are we a prized possession to God the Father? YES “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.” (1 Peter 2:9)
Do we belong to God the Father? YES “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Corinthians 6:20)
Are we chosen by God the Father? YES “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.” (Ephesians 1:4-5)
Can anything separate me from my loving Father? NO “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)
We are our Father’s beloved children. The process of discovering our perfect Father starts at birth and also begins again at our rebirth. As we discover who we are in Him, we can grow in the very likeness of Him! He is with us every step of the way. His eyes are on us, and His heart is for us. What blessed assurance! As your spiritual “Daddy’s” love sinks deep within your soul, you will come to know that you had The Perfect Father all along! This article has undergone ministry review and approval.
