Today’s article is another installment in Brother P.’s column, “Lessons From the Nursing Home.”
Often while walking people in the nursing home — that is my job, you know — the person with whom I am walking will share with me their worries. And they will worry about everything.
They worry about having to be in the nursing home for a few weeks following their most recent surgery; they worry about that surgery; they worry about their animals at home or their kids or grandkids at home; they worry about the weather, Christmas coming, you name it.
They worry about, well, everything.
Of course, I tell them that everything will be OK, that their stay will be a blink of an eye, their animals and kids will be OK, and the weather will always change, and Christmas is a given, plus, worrying does not fix anything.
Then I tell them that I am the biggest worrywart that they have ever met!
Perhaps God is OK with us worrying about things when we don’t know how He is going to handle them. But when we know that He is handling something, we have no reason to worry.
Philippians 4:6 tells us not to worry, and verse 7 says God will give you peace through Jesus. Verse 8 gives us a few suggestions of other things to think about since we won’t be worrying.

Thank you for sharing uplifting words I had verse 6 highlighted and thanksgiving underlined. I needed this reminder today.
