As saints of God, there are some things that we do daily as a matter of course.
These are spiritual non-negotiables. You could also call them spiritual habits. We’ve incorporated these actions into our lives because they’re important. We may not want to do them every day. We may be tempted to skip. But, by and large, we don’t because these small, simple actions strengthen our walk with the Lord. We asked the members of the Gospel Blog team (writers and narrators) to tell us about one daily non-negotiable that they prioritize each day. Here’s what they had to say: Sister Chelle Paul: When I say my morning prayer, the first thing I do is thank God for all the things He has done for my family and me. It doesn’t matter how big or how small the situation is, it is on the list. I can’t think of a better way to remind myself that God loves us and watches over us no matter what. Sister Colleen Moore: One of my non-negotiable daily habits is that my husband and I pray every night together before bed. We pray out loud and take turns each night. It’s a blessing to hear what your spouse prays for and it has strengthened and blessed our marriage in so many ways. Brother Frank Natoli: Reading and studying the Bible and Book of Mormon. Sister Mandy Griffith: One non-negotiable daily habit is reading a verse of scripture to start the day. I have a daily tear-off calendar as well as a daily email and the verse of the day in our Church app. When I open that door, His word invites me to continue reading, praying, and setting my mind on things above. Sister Michelle Watson: Our branch selects a memory verse for each month. I always recite it with my boys at breakfast every morning. It’s a small thing, but I am so grateful for the opportunity to plant the word of God in my heart and the hearts of my kids. Sister Natalie Shawver: My non-negotiable is whispering a prayer before I get out of bed each day. Sister Patty Machnik: I have two habits that I say are crucial for my walk with the Lord. One is the continual habit of prayer. It’s more than daily. It’s having a prayer continuously in my heart. Secondly, it’s reading the Word. I need to remember who God is, what He has done, what He will do, and how He loves me. Sister Ruth Gehly: Each day I try to recognize the sovereignty of God as creator of the universe… as well as in granting me the breath of life. It reminds me that while He is so much bigger than who I am and that He has a plan for this world, He is not too big to be holding my hand. His love defines who I am. His truth lights the pathway of my life and service unto Him. Sister Stefanie Callens: Every night at the dinner table, we go around and talk about our roses and thorns for the day. We share how even when we have a really bad day, God still gives us roses. What about YOU?

Isaiah, Chapter 25[1] O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.[2] For thou hast made of a city an heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers...
