Did you know that 14 years ago Brother Richard Christman made a trip to Quito, Ecuador, and we now have a mission of eight members? That’s how news of the Restored Gospel spreads.
Recently, Brothers Ken Lombardo and Noah Comacho traveled to Quito to do the usual “missionary things” that you would expect to hear about. They held services, met with various people interested in hearing about the Gospel, anointed the sick, blessed two babies, counseled someone who asked for baptism, bought a microwave for the mission and a computer so the saints can have meetings via Skype.
See, it’s not only the U.S. branches that have gone tech! If you’re separated by miles and have no resident elder, Skype is the next best thing. Every Sunday evening, either Brother Daniel Mora or Brother Eddy Oceguera hold meetings with the members in Quito via the new computer purchased for the mission.
On recent trips, they have also held children’s seminars, teaching stories like Daniel in the lion’s den, David and Goliath, and most recently Samson and Delilah. If you look closely at the group photo, you’ll see some wearing a headband with string attached for Samson’s hair and trying to show their strength with their muscles. Sometimes the children play games, create crafts, and learn songs all related to the stories, and they always end the day with a piñata.
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…” (Matthew 28:19)
Stay tuned as we watch the Lord on the move in Ecuador!
