My dad, the late Brother Tim Capone, had a dream before asking for his baptism. His dream has been one of the most impactful things in my life. I know some of you may remember this, and some may not, so I want to share it with you.
In the dream, my dad was walking on the top of a fence line, and on one side of the fence, it was beautiful. He saw family and church members on that side, and they were all smiling, and it was good. On the other side, it was dark and evil. He could hear the devil laughing at him.
My dad looked down and noticed he had a huge, heavy chain wrapped around his neck. As he neared the end of the fenceline, he knew he had to make a choice of which side he would jump toward—the good side or the bad side.
He wanted to jump toward the good side, but could he with a chain around his neck? When he looked down again, he saw that the huge heavy chain was just a thin piece of thread! My dad ripped it off his neck and woke up.
How many times in life have we felt like we didn’t have the strength to go on? How many times have we felt the devil try to bring us down, to discourage us and make us feel weak? One reason why my dad’s dream affected me so much was because it confirmed to me once again that we have the strength through God to win!
That heavy chain that we feel sometimes weighing us down is nothing but a piece of thread. The devil wants us to feel heavy with burdens, but God wants us to see that when we choose Him, He gives us strength. He reveals to us that we CAN do all things through Him!
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
