Coffee or tea?
Beach or city?
Carry-out or dine-in?
Choices, choices … all day long we make them. In fact, the average adult makes 35,000 total decisions each day. That includes what we’ll eat, wear, and say. (No wonder we’re tired at the end of the day.)
And so many of the choices we make are important to us: where we live, who we marry, what type of profession we have. These choices can have a profound effect on our daily lives.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed—and with potentially 35,000 decisions to be made in one day, who wouldn’t be? But when it comes to our walk with the Lord, that decision, time and again, should be the easiest choice of all.
There should be no question in our minds: the choice IS Him and should always BE Him—no one and nothing else.
Take it from Peter—he and the other apostles said, “We ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29).
And Apostle Paul said, ”For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10).
And finally, Christ himself makes it quite clear: “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon” (Matthew 6:24).
The Lord wants to make the choice simple for us because in the future, there will be a big choice for the world to make.
“Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great church, which is the mother of abominations…” (1 Nephi 14:10)
I’d like to think none of us want to spend eternity with the devil—so let’s make the right choice. Let’s make Jesus our choice.
So, what’ll it be? Only you get to decide.
