Superhero from Scripture: Nephi Has Superhuman Powers

by | Sep 2, 2021 | Children & Kids, Videos | 1 comment

Hi kids! Sister Linda is back with another awesome video for you.

(Not a kid? Forward today’s post to a child in your life.)

Do you remember last time when we talked about the dynamic duo of Alma and Amulek from the Book of Mormon? They (kinda) reminded us of Batman and Robin from the comics. If you missed it, you can catch up here.

Well, today, we’re going to talk about the one, the only Superman.

Can you name some of Superman’s super-human powers? (He’s got quite a few!)

Are there any heroes from scripture that seem ordinary on the outside but who received super-human powers from God to do great things?

Yes, there are! A lot of them!

For example, God gave Moses the power to part the Red Sea.

God gave Elijah the power to stop rain from falling on the entire country of Israel—for years!

God gave the disciples of Jesus the power to heal people of all kinds of sicknesses. Can you imagine?!

In today’s lesson, we’re going to discuss Nephi from The Book of Mormon and how God gave him some “shocking” super-human powers.

Have fun watching the video. There’s a craft at the end, too!

Hello,, I just want to share these words written by Sister Yvonne Saffron. After developing the lesson, she shared these words of a song she wrote a while ago called Why Do You Try? It is written from Laman and Lemuel’s point of view:

    Why do you Try?
    Written by Sister Yvonne Saffron

Nephi, Nephi, you don’t know how to build a ship,
    silly fool!
    Why do you try?
Nephi, Nephi to learn to build,
    You must go to school,
    You silly fool,
    Why do you try?

I have the music if any are interested. It is a good lesson for our children.
