Today’s Good Word is another pearl of wisdom from Proverbs.

What is wealth gotten by vanity?

Well, as followers of Christ, we believe that we earn a living by doing honest work. If we try to obtain wealth by any other means, then that’s probably vanity. Any kind of get-rich-quick scheme constitutes vanity, as well as any type of dishonest work.

Today’s proverb says that “vain” wealth will diminish, or get smaller. What could be some logical reasons why this type of wealth isn’t lasting? Think on that for a minute.

Next, we learn that the person who gains via labor (work) will increase. So, let’s not try to take shortcuts at work or fall for promises of easy money. Let’s earn our bread the good old-fashioned way and watch as God provides the increase — whatever that might look like in His plan for us.
