Today’s Good Word is a reminder that God’s ways are ways of wisdom and order — not ignorance and chaos. This scripture is referring to how the church was supposed to provide relief for the poor and needy, but it can apply to most any of God’s commandments to us.

We mustn’t “run faster than we have strength” and burn ourselves out, yet we must also “be diligent” and not slack off in our duties. Striking this sweet spot isn’t easy, but the Holy Spirit is there to guide us in what’s most wise and proper.
