Today’s Good Word reminds us that we must look to God every day for natural and spiritual sustenance.

Thankfully, many of us have enough actual “bread” on hand to last for weeks, so we’re not wondering where our next meal is going to come from. But, each day we thank God for the food He provides, realizing that it’s there because of His grace.

It’s the same spiritually. Each day, we have needs that must be met, challenges that must be faced. We experience empty moments that — like our stomachs — need to be filled with something real and good. Just as our bodies need refueling each and every day, so do our souls.

Thank God that we can rely on Him to give us, day by day, this spiritual bread. Just think of the many who have gone days, weeks, months, and years without this kind of soul-sustaining nourishment. Let’s offer them the bread of life and the living water when we recognize the need.
