Good Word Friday Theme: Abiding in His Spirit

Have you ever had your heart set on attending an event, such as a concert, sports tournament, or conference, but your hopes were dashed by two little words: Sold Out.

Imagine standing outside the entrance to the theater, theme park, or stadium, knowing that all the magic is happening just a few steps away … so close! But you can’t cross the threshold without a ticket. And there are none left for you.

Today’s scripture from Ephesians reminds us that God’s Spirit can never sell out. It never reaches max capacity. It’s an ever-stretching, always-available, never-stopping invitation. There is a hefty price for admission — but Jesus Christ paid for it with His own blood.

We have access to the Father through Jesus by the Holy Spirit. So often we think of this as a matter of course, but, today, let’s remember the high price that was required for us to enter this exquisite, heavenly realm — way better than anything we could ever experience on earth. At bottom, it’s the only thing we can set our heart on that will fully satisfy. So, let’s abide in it.

“For through him we both have access by one spirit unto the Father.” (Ephesians 2:18 )
