We hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s theme of prayer. May the Lord inspire you with new ways that you can deepen your prayer life in 2018. Just imagine the things God might do if we devoted more time to prayer!

Today’s Good Word reminds us of an essential ingredient to prayer: humility.

Humility isn’t believing you’re worthless or acting like an introvert. It’s simply knowing who you are in relationship to God. What a powerful tool to bring to prayer!

Just imagine how the heavens open when you acknowledge before God in prayer that He is the one with almighty power, omnipotent knowledge, and perfect love and that you are limited in these areas — which is why you need Him! You ask for your heart’s desires, but only as they align with His perfect will. You confess that you can’t answer your own prayers; you need God to intervene.

Let’s all strive to put God in His rightful place when we pray. He’s not Santa Claus. He’s not fickle or fussy. He’s not a last resort. He’s the source.
