We here at the Gospel Blog hope that you have a wonderful Christmas weekend ahead of you! May you enjoy all the happy moments that are in store, but may you also find time to reflect on Jesus Christ and what His birth represents.

Today’s Good Word is a great way to start off this Christmas weekend. It reminds us that God exalted Christ to the role of leader and redeemer, but that didn’t mean Jesus got to live an easy life, with riches, servants, and earthly power at his disposal.

What it does mean is that Jesus Christ, in being a humble, perfect servant of God, is raised up as the standard by which we must live our lives.

And the first step toward living the standard? Repenting and asking for forgiveness, knowing that we can never be good enough, returning thanks to God for the infinite atonement of our Lord.

May the Lord bring many more heavenly thoughts into your mind this weekend.
