What a Good Word for the New Year! Do you have any “old things” that you’d like to put behind you in 2019? Got any bad habits, unwise behaviors, or wayward thought patterns that you wish would just “pass away”?
In Christ, it can become reality.
If you’ve made any serious resolutions this year, then it’s possible that you’ve researched strategies that will help you keep the promise you’ve made to yourself. For example, maybe you’re going to track your food intake or financial data. Perhaps you’ve got a 365-day devotional that you’re going to read daily. Maybe you’ve recruited an accountability partner who is going to check in on you from time to time regarding X, Y, or Z.
All these things are good and helpful! But let’s remember that they are also nothing without Christ. He is the one who makes us a new creature, from the inside out. Apart from Him, all our best efforts eventually fail.
This year, instead of relying on our own willpower, let’s draw strength from God to make the changes that He’s calling us to.
January Is SSP Month!
Did you enjoy yesterday’s article from the Student Support Program? During the month of January, we’re going to be sharing some of the excellent newsletters that the SSP has published in the past. These posts may be a little longer than the norm, but they’re all worth the read.
For fans of Brother Jerry Valenti’s chapter-by-chapter Book of Mormon study, that will still be happening every Wednesday! In February, you’ll start to hear from our regular columnists once more. Have a great weekend!
