Spread the Good Word: 1 John 1:9

Today’s Good Word reminds us of how right and refreshing it is to come clean. God already knows everything about us — what we do, what we think, and all the reasons why. He asks us to confess our sins, not because He doesn’t already know about those sins, but because He wants us to know about them — recognize them and repent.

When we come clean, so to speak, then God’s marvelous grace does the real cleansing.

So often, we don’t want to come clean with our sins because we’re afraid that we’ll somehow cross the line with God and not receive forgiveness. But this verse reminds us that as often as we come clean, He is faithful to forgive. The stains of sin disappear as far as He’s concerned, and we’re given a fresh start.
