Spared Twice

Today’s Miracle Monday contains two stories of God’s divine protection on the road sent to us by Sister KarenJo Pandone.

About 15 years ago, my husband and I were traveling home from a dinner with friends. The roads were very slippery, and the snow was coming down heavily. I kept urging Michael to slow down due to the road conditions.

Suddenly, about 20 yards in front of us, we saw a car stopped in the middle of the road! Knowing that we couldn’t possibly stop in time or miss the car, I slid down in my seat and closed my eyes.

A few seconds later, I opened them wondering why I never felt an impact. We were past the car without incident! I asked Michael what had happened, and he replied that he didn’t know.

He said, “One minute the car was in front of us, and the next we were past it.” The Lord spared our lives. God is good all the time!

Another time, when I was about 4 years old, I was with my mother, driving home from a Ladies Circle meeting. In those days, there were no seat belts installed in cars and no restrictions for children sitting in the front seat. (As you can imagine, this was quite a long time ago!)

I fell asleep on the front seat with my head near the passenger door. My mother prepared to turn left at a traffic light, after making sure all was clear. At the moment she began the turn, a car ran the red light and hit us on the passenger-side door.

When Mom hit the brakes at the last minute, I rolled off the seat onto the floor under the dashboard, still sleeping. When the man saw her carrying me out of the car, still asleep, he almost fainted from fear that he had killed me. The Lord saw fit to spare my life.
