We hope that you had a wonderful Easter Sunday, brothers and sisters! Last week, we asked you to share any encouraging experiences that you’ve had regarding our current state of self-isolation and quarantine due to coronavirus. Here are the responses we received.

On Sat. April 4, 2020, in the middle of the night I was unable to sleep and was feeling very irritated because I wanted to be able to see my church service at 11 a.m. I began to pray for sleep and for the situation we were having with this coronavirus outbreak. I was praying that all this would be over very soon and that we could meet together soon. Then the Spirit gave me these words: “Follow the light, Follow the light, Follow the light.” I began to ask what this meant and it was given to me that Jesus is the Light. I then began to rest and was able to get a little more rest and sleep. God is good, all the time God is good!

Last Sunday while Brother Joel Gehly was giving his sermon, I saw the silhouettes of six personages standing behind him. I intentionally looked away to be sure that it was not just the lighting, and when I looked back they were still there.

In a dream, I was standing on a ground that was rust-colored as if it was an old junkyard, and on it was a rusted bolt, an old nail, and small pieces of rusted metal. A voice told me, “Look closer.” As I looked closer, I saw a clean, white pearl, and then a shining diamond, and then small pieces of folded currency. When I awoke, I wasn’t lying in bed but but standing on the side of my bed. I came to understand that, through all that is happening, we must focus on the Pearl of Great Price. Be the shining diamond, and God will take care of all our needs.

While I was studying this week I read about the woman (Mary) of Bethany as she poured the very precious oil upon Jesus’ head and wiped his feet with her hair. Seeing that the oil was of great worth, some complained of the waste of such an expensive item. When Jesus responded, he said, “Let her alone…she hath done what she could.” (Mark 14:6-8)

This week I was overwhelmed. Overwhelmed by the media, the noise, the worry, the busyness, the expectations (that I had mainly placed upon myself) to be housekeeper, mother, wife, teacher, chef, peacemaker, fun-mom, healthy eater, workout doer, happiness maker … I exhausted myself to attain what I thought I needed to be: perfect. This verse changed that for me, “she hath done what she could.” It rang from my heart to my ears.

I took great courage from this. God does not require us to be perfect and amazing. He only requires us to do what we can because He fills and provides the difference. Doing “what I can” looks different every day in this social distancing situation we are all in — and that is OK. Sometimes I reach the summit and other times I struggle thought the valleys, but I know one thing for sure — our great God, loving as He is, rains grace down upon me and helps me every single time. May God bless you in this time. We may be physically distant, but we can be spiritually closer than ever.
