Memorable Quotes
“We’re in the Peace Family.”
In his chapel address, Brother Jerry Valenti explained that we’re in the Peace Family. The head of the family is God and His Son Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. If we are peacemakers, as God teaches us to be, then we will be called the children of God, as it says in the Beattitudes (Matt. 5:9). When we’re angry with our brothers or sisters and the other people in our lives — or even when we get angry due to trivial matters and inconveniences — that robs our peace. Let’s not open our hearts to anger but instead focus wholly on God and experience the peace He wants for us.
My Camp Takeaway
We asked some of the campers to tell us about what really hit home for them during speaking, seminars, or any other time, really. What stood out? What touched them? Here are some of their responses:
Sister Bethany Dyer – “I read along in John 15 as Brother Pete Giannetti spoke on Sunday morning, and the word that stuck out was “abide.” Today is my 21st spiritual birthday. I’m thankful that I’ve abided in the Lord and the gospel, but I’m also thankful for the brothers and sisters who were baptized the same day and are still abiding in the Lord. Although I couldn’t stay all week, not being at a GMBA camp for 13 years, it was wonderful seeing all my brothers and sisters who are abiding in the faith.”
Sister Angeles Palafox – “On Monday morning in the 7 a.m. prayer meeting, as we were on our knees, Brother Griffith spoke in the gift of tongues. I don’t remember all he said, but these words stuck out to me: “My sons, my sons, your prayers have been heard.”
Sister Erin Light – “I really loved Brother Michael Watson’s refreshing take on allowing the world to let you down so that we can allow Christ to be everything for us. I loved the expectation that this world holds nothing joyous for us and how God is all things (the ultimate joy) instead.”
Sister Alanna Wiktorowicz – “God wants us to be filled with joy. We need to empty out the junk we carry around to allow room for God to fill us with joy. God wants us to experience joy through all seasons of life.”
Kids’ Day at Camp!
Yesterday was filled with fun for the 5-12-year-olds. Petting zoo, face painting, balloon animals, and Kona ice truck…they had a blast. Kids’ Day is all about showing the children that we care about them.
