Good Word Friday theme: Seek
God is our Creator and Father. The universe is the only thing large enough to be His throne. Our tiny planet is His mere footstool. He exists outside of time and space. His love knows no limits, and His mercy is boundless. He is truly Great!
Yet, so often, we persist in patronizing Him. As today’s scripture says, we seek to counsel the Lord, meaning, we like to advise Him as to how He can best serve us.
Today’s verse tells us that it’s much, much preferable to take counsel from God. His advice is full of wisdom, justice, and great mercy. (Right now, our world could use a lot more of all three, don’t you think?)
Before turning to family, friends, experts, or society at large, let’s seek God’s counsel first and foremost. When God’s counsel conflicts with popular opinion, will we trust in Him with our whole heart, or will we stubbornly cling to our own limited understanding of things?
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)
We hope that today’s verse inspires you to crave counsel from Jesus Christ in the areas where you’re asking questions, seeking understanding, and needing deliverance.
“Wherefore, brethren, seek not to counsel the Lord, but to take counsel from his hand. For behold, ye yourselves know that he counseleth in wisdom, and in justice, and in great mercy, over all his works.” (Jacob 4:10)
