I recently read a little devotional on effectual praying, and it really touched my heart. The message is too good not to share it with you. It turned the word “PRAY” into an acrostic.

P: Praise His name, give Him all glory! Thank Him for everything He has done!

R: Repent of your sins, ask Him for forgiveness, and come to Him with a humble heart.

A: Ask Him to help with the things you are in need of.

Y: Yield and be still. Listen for His whisper or how He will talk to you.

I have personally been praying about something for months now, and after I read this devotional, I realized I was not yielding enough. How could I continue praying about something if I wasn’t allowing time to be still and listen for His voice?

I changed how I was praying. I yielded and asked the Lord to please speak to me, to please tell me what to do, what to change, what to do differently…guess what happened?!

He whispered the answer.

I teared up immediately because I knew what I needed to do. He gave me my answer, and I’m doing my best to be obedient in what He asked of me.

I wanted to share this because I know so many can relate. We have all been in the position of praying for something. Some of us are in that position right now.

Our prayer life needs constant tweaking, taking things up a notch, and being deep in prayer. There are too many things happening in this world nowadays to be stagnant in prayer.

Let’s link together as a church, and as a family, and P.R.A.Y.

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.  The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16)
