I Did Not Fall
Ninety-nine years ago this month Brother Ishmael D’amico’s life was miraculously saved from a fall.
“While employed in the construction of a building in Detroit, in November 1921, I was handing material to the bricklayer. I was standing on a board about one foot wide, which was supported by a scaffold, some distance from the ground. Suddenly the board upon which I stood broke and fell to the ground; but I remained standing in mid-air, safe and sound. I was neither injured nor afraid, and I glorified God that I was preserved, although the board had broken and fallen from under me. I then stepped over to other boards, which had not broken. It was just as if someone had held me up until I could reach a place of safety.
Later I was telling this experience in a testimony meeting here in Detroit. The spirit of God descended on one of the brothers, and he saw in a vision that when the board had broken, the Lord Jesus Himself came and held me by my arms to keep me from falling. I thank our Lord again and again that He saved me from perishing. (Source: “My Testimony” by Ishmael D’Amico, Brother Ishmael D’Amico)
Send Hunters and Fishers
Eighty-five years ago this month, at the General Conference of 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio, Church President W.H. Cadman urged the ministry to stand up and “be men” in taking the Gospel to the Native American People.
Brother Cadman used the scripture found in 2 Nephi 1:21 when Lehi blessed and admonished his sons before his death, “Arise from the dust, my sons, and be men, and be determined in one mind and in one heart, united in all things, that ye may not come down into captivity.”
Brother Cadman admonished the conference to not be slow in performing our duty and asked, “Is it not time we were doing something worthwhile?” (Source: A History of the Church of Jesus Christ by W.H. Cadman, page 235)
“Call out the hunters and fishers to find them.
Fish with the sunlight, and hunt with the moon,
And run thru the caves and the rocks that surround them.
Bring back My people, oh, bring them home soon.”
