We are living in a time where the words of the prophets are coming to life! Events we are seeing indicates that the dispersed people of Israel may well be beginning the process of going home!
In northeastern India, there is a community of people that goes by the name Bnei Menashe. They were exiled from Israel by the Assyrians 2,700 years ago and are descendants of Manasseh.
Their ancestors first traveled all the way to China and stayed there for several centuries. You can see the Chinese influence in their features. Ultimately, they had to leave China because of religious persecution. They went south and then west until they settled in northeastern India. Separated geographically from Israel, they maintained their traditions, passed down orally from father to son. It is said they always longed for Zion, for Jerusalem and Israel. The only thing that kept them connected to Israel was their faith, plus the customs and traditions handed down through the generations.
There are organizations in Israel created specifically to assist those who have been dispersed over the centuries. One such organization is called Shavei Israel, and it has been successful in bringing 4,000 of the Bnei Menashe community home to Israel. There are still 6,500 members of the community living in northeast India, awaiting their turn to come home.
The Israel Minister of Aliyah (meaning immigration of Jews from the dispersion from the land of Israel) in cooperation with the Interior Ministry of Israel have recognized Bnei Menashe as the Tribe of Manasseh. They are moving forward with returning another group of 722 members of the Bnei Menashe community. The first of this group is due to arrive in Israel in mid-October 2020!
As The Church of Jesus Christ, we, of course, have no firsthand knowledge of the process used by organizations such as those described above to identify tribes of Israel. We are ultimately depending on God to bring forth each of the tribes, as described in the scriptures. However, we acknowledge that God can certainly work through organizations such as these, so we are excited to share these developments with you.
These events are exciting and potentially of Biblical and historic proportions!
