Today, we’re continuing our Good Word theme of “Boldness.” In this passage, Paul is explaining to the Ephesians that God has revealed to him and the other apostles a great mystery. (Ooh! What is it?!)

The mystery is that the Gentiles have access to the gospel of Jesus Christ and are being invited into the fold of God.

If you remember, this was a pretty seismic shift in the way Israel thought about God and man. It was huge. It was divisive. It was not an easy message for Paul to deliver no matter which way you slice it.

It required a lot of boldness (fearless confidence) to take this message and spread it like wildfire, which was, after all, Paul’s mission in life. He asks the Ephesians not to worry about the tough road he’s faced in fulfilling this mission.

Paul doesn’t fear. He knows that God will protect him and help him convey the message, no matter how much heat he takes for it.

Paul doesn’t doubt. He’s 100 percent sure that he’s speaking God’s truth.

Paul is bold with the message.

As a church, we have a bold message — the message of the restoration. It’s often not an easy message for people to hear. It requires quite a shift in thinking. It’s a message that takes a lot of heat from all sides and angles.

Like Paul, are we bold in bringing this message to the world? Or are we timid and irresolute? Let’s heed this verse and remember that we have access to Jesus Christ through our faith in Him. That faith fills us with His message, and we can be confident and fearless in sharing it with a wandering world.
