Have you ever thanked someone from the Church for something? Many times, instead of saying, “You’re welcome” or “My pleasure,” the person says, “Thank God.” That’s because we sometimes can’t in good conscience accept thanks when we know we are not the ones who did the real work or inspired the work in the first place — it was God. We then direct the person’s gratitude to one who is worthy of it.

Our world today would have us thank one another — but only one another. There’s a school of thought that says human beings are supreme and that humans have the capacity within to solve any problem. We know that’s not true. The divine is of much more value than the temporal, and many solutions are outside of human reach and require supernatural intervention.

Now therefore, let’s thank God and praise His glorious name!
