I was at the store, and when I went inside to grab a cart, a woman and her 5-year-old daughter were putting one back. I smiled at them as I picked out a cart, and the little girl started to sing. I was touched as she proudly sang these words, loud and clear:

The B-I-B-L-E!

Yes, that’s the book for me!

I stand alone on the Word of God!

It touched my heart. The mother immediately looked over at me, and I could tell she was wondering what my reaction would be. It’s sad that so many are offended by God’s name these days — but not me. I smiled big and told that little girl how good she sang and that it’s a beautiful song to hear. The mother smiled big at me, and we totally had a “moment” where she knew that I loved God, and I knew that she did, too.

Have you ever heard the quote, “If you don’t teach your children to follow Christ, then the world will teach them not to”? How true that is!

My children — all our children — need to know about God and His Gospel. They need to know about His love and that we were all created for His glory. I want my children to always know how special they are and that God has a purpose for each one of them. He has blessed them each with gifts, and they will one day see what those are. It’s exciting! I want my children to be excited to know that they have something special to share with others.

Recently, my oldest son felt God’s spirit during a sermon. While the congregation (all seated) sang “For Those Tears I Died,” he decided to stand up. When I asked him why he stood when everyone else was sitting, he said, “Because I wanted to … when I was sitting there, I had so many butterflies in my stomach and I just couldn’t sit there any longer … I knew I needed to stand.” How touching that was to hear! When I told him that was God touching his heart, he said, “That’s exactly what I thought.”

I want our children to see God’s love and presence in their lives, but I want them to feel it too. That is one of my prayers for them. God bless all of our children.
