iPraise Playlist, Vol. 2: Complete in Christ

By Sister Erin Light

musicWhat does it mean to be “complete” in Christ? An excerpt from Colossians 2:6-10 says, “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him.”

Isn’t that a wonderful statement? Notwithstanding our various temperaments and imperfections, we are complete in Christ because He is perfect. He needs nothing from mankind. We, on the other hand, need everything that Christ offers: love, peace, grace, and mercy. This verse tells us that if we believe in Christ and follow Him in steadfastness of faith (verse 6-7), we can overcome this world and partake in the plan of Salvation that Christ laid out for us. The things of this world do not fulfill our needs. Only Christ offers contentment. Therefore, “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30).

This week, we are showcasing the song “Restless” by Switchfoot, submitted by Sister Michelle Watson. When asked why this song touched her, our sister responded,

“The song has knockout imagery. It compares this life to a restless sea. We’re always going to be restless in this life because we’re in the flesh and not with Jesus. Once we make it to the other side, we’ll be complete. We can’t expect to be complete in this life because we’re sinful, and we’ll always feel that constant pull toward the divine, “looking for you” like the song says. Only when we’re with Jesus will that restless pull-and-tug be over.”
