You Exhausted?

You Exhausted?

It has been a day for me already, and it’s only morning still.

I feel like everyone’s been demanding of me — my daughter, the dog, clients, friends... It’s very possible that I am feeling this way because my 11-month-old didn’t sleep well last night and I am exhausted. I’ve already had a couple cups of coffee, but it hasn’t helped to shake my fuzzy head.

While thinking about how drained I am, my thoughts went to Jesus. And, honestly, I don’t know why, but I’ve never considered this before. How did Jesus feel during his three-year ministry?

He had to be exhausted!

He walked for days at a time to get from one place to the other, which is demanding in and of itself. I am sure that when He rested for the night the disciples would either pepper Him with questions or want to hear stories. Or there were people in the surrounding areas who wanted to meet Him and have Him heal or minister unto them.

I’m sure He never really got a break unless He went off to speak directly with God.

And then when they got to their destination, He spent hours preaching to sometimes thousands of people. Can you imagine speaking to thousands of people?! Without a microphone mind you, so He had to be projecting for all to hear.

As for me, I am exhausted and need to be alone to recover after giving a presentation to even just a handful of people. And I am positive that after His preaching, people went up to Him to talk, ask advice, get healed.

He did this day after day for three years! And this doesn’t even take into account dealing with the people so full of hate who were against Him and His teachings.

We can write this all off, saying that, as the son of God, He had a ton of energy. That may be the case, but He was still a man. (And I am not even sure they had coffee back then.)

So, each time I'm feeling like everyone wants a piece of me and I don’t have much energy left for anyone, I am going to think of Jesus and what He went through just for me. I know it helped put things into perspective for me this morning.

    Dear Sis Coffee Lover

Really enjoyed your post. Though my baby is now 19, I too am sleep deprived this morning due to burning the candle at both ends at work.

I too reached out to Him (and coffee) to help me get through the day with the hope of being a positive influence to at least one person today. Your post has invigorated me. Thanks for the (spiritual) energy boost.

PS Hugs to that precious little one.
