Wait, Let Me Just Put on My Makeup First
Today's Miracle Monday is a dream submitted by Sister Anonymous. We're sharing it because we think it's a pretty powerful message, but we're also hoping to demonstrate that we're open to anonymous submissions if you feel that's the best way to go in sharing your testimony.
Like many women, I try to look my best. There is nothing inherently bad about presenting a pretty, put-together outward appearance.
But, for myself, I know that I put a lot of stock in my looks. For example, I can't remember the last time I left the house without putting on makeup.
One night, I had a dream. In the dream, the saints of God were all gathering together. I had the impression that it was the end times, and we were all gathering and going up a mountain. Going where the Lord wanted us to go to be safe. It wasn't clear to me exactly what was happening, but I knew that we were all going up this mountain.
I intended to go, too. But I needed to put on my makeup first. I was rushing to get it done, but the weird thing was that my makeup just wasn't going on right. It was taking way longer than normal to put it on. I was stressing about it, knowing that everyone else was on the way up the mountain while I was struggling with my makeup.
In the dream, I knew that I wanted to go up the mountain, but I also knew that I was not going without makeup. I would be too self-conscious about how I looked. And I remember thinking how ridiculous this was.
The dream ended, and I woke up asking myself, "Am I really going to miss out on what God has for my future because I'm so self conscious about how I look?"
I knew that this wasn't just a dream; it was a special message that the Lord had for me. I needed to hear it. Of all my weaknesses, I feel like self consciousness about my appearance is a big one, and this dream really helped me to understand just how unimportant that is in the big scheme of things. To this day, when I'm getting ready and I can't get my hair or my eyeshadow just right, I think of this dream, and it reminds me to keep things in proper perspective.
