The Red Pen Disaster

Today, we're kicking off our June theme, kids and children, with this sweet story submitted by Brother Tim Scolaro. Enjoy!

When I was 3 years old and things were relatively tight financially for my parents, they had our sofa reupholstered with a fabric that had a texture with raised loops and grooves running in a grid between the raised areas. I somehow got my hands on a red Bic ballpoint pen and discovered that I could run it up and down the grooves and leave a streak of red ink in the recessed grooves, which seemed really cool to a 3-year-old.

I began running the pen up and down the grooves in a very noticeable part of the sofa when my mother walked into the room, saw what I was doing, and began weeping, as she no doubt thought that the new fabric she had saved hard to purchase was ruined.

I felt terrible to see my mother crying so hard and, even at that age, felt very bad for having done this. I had been taught that God answers prayers and was inspired to ask God to help me fix the sofa.

I got some Kleenex from the bathroom, wet it, and began wiping the sofa where I had been running the pen. Miraculously, the ink disappeared completely as I wiped. Once again, my mother walked into the room and this time found that there was no trace of the ink. This made no sense as the tissue did not even touch the surface recessed in the grooves to be able to remove the ink, but God is good, and this experience served as an early foundation of my faith.

July Miracle Monday Theme

Next month, our theme for Miracle Monday is "your conversion testimony." We all have a story of how the Lord called us to Him. What's yours? Each one is inherently miraculous, so it doesn't have to be a crazy, wild story. Even if it's short and sweet, we'd love to hear how God worked with you. Perhaps your story will strike a chord in someone else and confirm what God is doing in them. Click here to share!

Here's your challenge for this week. (For the record, you don't have to post today. You can post anytime!) We'd love to see your original photos, but you can also share others' photos or memes, too. Don't forget the hashtag!
