The One-Inch Miracle

We hope you enjoyed last week's Behind the Scenes series. Today, we're back to our regularly scheduled program. We're bringing you a school-related testimony shared by Cathy Genaro. We do need Miracle Monday submissions for next month, so please see the note below for the new theme.

When I was in school, I was often teased for my short stature. As a female, I learned to deal with it with a smile and a sense of humor, but I must admit that sometimes kids can be cruel. I often felt hurt by the constant reminder that I was "different."

Somehow I survived those school days, but when my son began to be teased for being so short, I began having flashbacks of my own hurt. At the age of 12, Jason had gone an entire year without a growth spurt, and after a series of tests, his pediatrician said he would probably grow to an adult size of 5 feet tall.

Needless to say, I was concerned. Friends of ours had a son in the same boat, and they found a specialist who began giving him injections of growth hormones. The injections seemed to be working, so my husband and I thought that this might be the "medical miracle" we needed for our son as well.

When I discussed this option with Jason, he responded, "What about God?" He didn't want injections, and he said he would pray and accept whatever God's will was for his life. I was completely humbled by his childlike faith!

We made a commitment to fast and pray together every Monday during summer vacation. His prayer was simple, "Lord, please allow me to have a small growth spurt before school starts so that I know you hear my prayers."

All summer, he was faithful in fasting and praying without complaint, and weekly he would be measured. The entire summer went by with no sign of growth. The day before school started, I was silently pleading to God that our prayers would be answered. He was measured...
NO GROWTH! He still didn't seem discouraged, but my heart was broken.

That night, I poured my heart out to God, letting Him know that I couldn't understand how He could deny this young boy who had been so faithful. The next morning before Jason left for school, he asked me to measure him one more time. To my amazement, he was 3/4 of an inch taller!

I checked and re-checked to make sure I had measured correctly, and it was true! God gave us something much greater than a "medical miracle." God gave us a "Divine Miracle" that no one could deny!

Psalm 37:4 states: "Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart."

September Theme: Marriage

Did the Lord give you an experience or testimony related to marriage? Perhaps the Lord revealed your future spouse to you before you even met. Or maybe you went through a rough patch as a couple, and the Lord miraculously helped you through it. Yes, we know these types of experiences can be personal, and we really appreciate the courage it takes to open up. If you have a testimony that the Lord has placed on your heart to share, please click here to send it to us.
