That's a Bad Man

That's a Bad Man

I believe God speaks to us in many ways. He answers our prayers. He gives us dreams and experiences. He whispers. He can speak to us through sermons, songs, and the testimonies of others. Sometimes, He speaks to us through our sweet, innocent children, too. He did that when our oldest son was a toddler, and I want to share that with you today.

Twelve years ago, my sister, Lisa, and I were at the store shopping with two of my children. Lane was only 2-and-a-half years old, and my other son was just a newborn at the time. We each took a child and went our separate ways in the store.

I noticed that every time I went down an aisle, the same man was there with me. I took notice right away and felt uncomfortable. I kept shopping but was watching him, too.

After it continued, I went to find my sister. I found her a few aisles away from me and started to privately tell her about this man and how I felt he was following me. No sooner had I started to share this with her, the same man came down our aisle. He turned around and walked away, and as he did so, Lane pointed his finger at him and said, “That is a bad man.”

Lane had no clue what was going on because he was a toddler! Lisa and I both got chills and knew the Lord was speaking through Lane and confirming what we felt. We left right away and never looked back.

I’m so thankful for discernment, and I pray our children — and my husband and I — will always have the discernment to know when we are in the presence of evil.

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
