Take a Page From My Book
Just like the Song of Zion lyrics, "Not knowing how to go out or come in, Lord," I fret quite a bit. I ponder. I hesitate. I even "worry o'er the future." On those days when I wish I could have a face-to-face conversation with God about my worries, He reminds me that every answer to any question I have can be found in the pages of the word of God.
Let's take a look at His words of wisdom...
Q: Dear Lord, I am nothing. Why do you think I can help?
A: "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you." John 15:16
Q: The world is a scary place and I often find myself terrified by the news reports. What do I do?
A: "Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen [other nations], and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them." Jeremiah 10:2
Q: I can't seem to shake this temptation; how do I resist?
A: "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16
Q: I've messed up a lot. How can God forgive all the sin of my past?
A: "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?...Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers ... And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God." 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Q: I've lost my job, how will I provide for my family?
A: "And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." John 6:35
Q: Lord, I don't see any way of completing this task. How will this ever get fixed?
A: "For with God nothing shall be impossible." Luke 1:37
Q: I feel so alone in this world, how do I get by?
A: "Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." Deuteronomy 31:6
Q: I've been praying about a concern for quite some time, maybe I should take matters into my own hands?
A: "Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord." Psalm 27:14
