Spread the Good Word: Psalm 69:30

Today, let's thank God for the gift of music! Praising God with a song is one of the most joyful ways to express our thanks. Whether we sing with all the breath our lungs can hold or we hum quietly to ourselves, whether we approach it with laughter or solemnity, whether we possess great skill or none at all, music can often express what our mouths otherwise would not or could not utter.

Have you ever seen a musical? When do the characters typically break out in song? Usually, it's during a moment of intense emotion or feeling. Music doesn't often further the plot of a musical as much as it reveals what's in the character's heart.

The next time your heart is full with thanks to God, try letting it overflow into a song.

"We Shall Sing On The Mountain Of The Lord". This one is up there on my most favorite list but as I learn others, more are being added to that list. Just to share, one day as I was taking a long drive to visit a relative in a home, I was playing some Christian CDs. Alone in my car, I was singing, as my mom would say, "to high Heaven". The day was very dreary and rainy, but coming home and singing again, there was a small break in the clouds where the sun came out and my heart was filled with great joy! The closer I got to home, the more the clouds were going away and more sunlight came through. Needless to say, there was not supposed to be any sun that day in the forecast. I guess my voice did reach to "high Heaven" and God approved of my singing even if I am not the best singer. :)
