Spread the Good Word: Luke 11:9-10
Good Word Friday theme: Seek
It's October, and we're back to our regular Good Word Fridays, and the new month's theme is "Seek."
We are all born seekers, don't you think? From the moment we enter the world, we're asking for something that we cannot obtain for ourselves. No matter how capable we become of providing for our own natural needs, there's always something to seek.
The key is seeking in the right direction. So often, we seek answers where there are none to be found. Worldly wells may yield a few wet buckets, but they always run dry. When we go to God with our needs, when we seek for Him to provide, He does. Today's scripture says so.
But, what if you seek in the right direction (Godward) but you still don't find? What then?
Today's scripture in Luke tells us that when we seek, we shall find. It never says when or how. Turns out there's another key — seeking without ceasing. Sometimes we have to persist. We have to keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking as a demonstration of our faith and trust in God as the only true source of what we seek.
Hebrews 11:6, says, "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."
If you seek without ceasing in the right direction, you will find! It may not be what you thought you were looking for, but it will be a good, true thing from God's own hand.
"And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." (Luke 11:9-10)
