Spread the Good Word: Isaiah 54:4

Good Word Friday Theme: Fear Not

Don't you just love getting shamed? When people mock you — so awesome. Humiliation is way underrated. Gimme some good ol' embarrassment, that's what I need.

Said no one. We are seriously afraid of any and all shame, mockery, and humiliation that's pointed our way. We'll go to great lengths to avoid experiencing any of these. Yet, there are plenty of scriptures that tell us we're going to be shamed for our belief in Jesus Christ. The Lord Himself predicted that His followers would be mocked and mortified. He told us to love our persecutors and to rejoice in the kinship of our Savior's suffering.

So, where does a verse like Isaiah 54:5 fit in? Fear not. You won't be ashamed.

This chapter describes how God will have compassion on His people, Israel, and restore them to Himself. The promise of Zion in Isaiah 54 will come to pass one day, and every eye around the globe will see it, and anyone who denies it will be denying reality.

This verse assures us of its certainty. We can hold to this promise with full faith. God won't fail us at the last hour. He will complete His work.

Even though we may be shamed by a hostile world, we won't ever experience the shame that comes with misplacing our trust in an unreliable God. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever, Amen.

"Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame." (Isaiah 54:4)
