For today's Miracle Monday, we reached out to Sister Rosanne and Brother Larry Champine and asked them to share some of the stories behind several of the songs that the Lord has given them. This particular story is about the song "We Shall Sing on the Mountain of the Lord."
I was raised in another faith with a limited understanding of the scriptures. As a member of a family band, music was a very important part of my life, but before I met The Church Of Jesus Christ and made my commitment to serve the Lord, I was never able to compose an original song.
When I joined The Church and accepted the Restored Gospel, words and melodies — many about my conversion and new relationship with the Lord — began to come forth in wonderful ways. As I was learning and growing, I had a great desire to understand the latter day promises, so I began to prayerfully study them. I became most impressed with Romans 14:11, "For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God."
My mind began to become enlightened. The more I read, the more it was impressed upon me:
The focus and foundation of Zion is CHRIST.
All the promise it represents will unfold when EVERY knee bows and EVERY tongue proclaims Christ is Lord.
With the Restoration of the Gospel, we have been blessed with a hope, not just of our heavenly home, but of the fulfillment of God's plan on earth. And while we look forward to all that Zion represents, the center of it all will be in worshipping our Savior. Praise God!
All these thoughts began to work on my heart and in my mind. Soon words and then a melody came forth built around this theme:
WE SHALL SING ON THE MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD

There's a day not long from now
That the Lord has said will come.
Although our hearts long for heaven's glorious shore,
His word must be fulfilled.
God shall gather Israel as a shepherd with his sheep.
And they will know His voice through a servant of choice,
And God's truth shall fill the earth.
As the prophets' words unfold, we shall see a day of rest.
Where lamb and lion are friends, blessings will the Lord send--
A time of jubilee.
There'll be peace throughout the land
As a calm before the storm.
And Zion will prepare for the Lord's coming there,
To redeem His chosen ones.
And we shall sing on the Mountain of the Lord
And give Him praise and glory for His love.
And every knee shall bow, every tongue confess
That Jesus is the Lord!
