His Arms Outstretched
Today we are wrapping up our month of conversion testimonies for Miracle Monday with this submission from Sister Joyce Smith. Enjoy!
January 2, 2016 was my 44th spiritual birthday. I was baptized on the first Sunday of the New Year in 1972 at 18 years old. A newlywed of four months, I asked for my baptism at the New Year's watch service.
Coming from a different denomination and attending catechism, I had heard stories from the Bible and about God. But it wasn't until I walked through the doors of The Church of Jesus Christ in San Fernando, California that I felt God. I felt His Spirit in that building and a special love from all the people.
At the time, I was dating a young man whose father was a minister there. I looked forward to going as often as I could and I knew right away that I wanted to be baptized in this church. But because I was still living at home, I decided to wait until after I was married.
Shortly after marriage, I had an experience — a vision or a dream — unlike anything I had ever experienced. I was sitting in the pew at the church that I was raised in, and my whole family was sitting along my right side. I looked to my left and saw a figure all in white. His arms were outstretched toward me. I turned to look at my family, but they did not see Him. He was reaching out to me to come with Him.
Then, at the watch service, everything the ministry said that night was meant for me. My heart was beating like it never had before, and I knew I was being called.
Since then, the Lord has seen me through many trials, and He has healed me from two types of cancer and a life-threatening bout with blood infection sepsis. I think of Isaiah 41:10, "Fear thou not for I am with thee. Be not dismayed for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee. I will help thee. Yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." Praise God for the way He works in our lives.
August Theme: Anything Goes
For our August Miracle Mondays, we're hosting our annual "no theme" month so that all of you who have been wanting to submit experiences and miracles that haven't quite fit in with any of our recent themes can feel free to do so. We haven't received that many, and we can use more, so please don't hesitate. If you're shy about sharing, think of it as another way to praise God for what He's done for you.
