Healed During Feetwashing
Today's feetwashing-related Miracle Monday was sent to us by Sister Ruth Gehly. Enjoy!
A few years ago, my husband Joel and I visited the Perry Mission in Ohio on a day when we would be sharing the ordinance of feet washing.
During our travel time, my thoughts were drawn to a particular evangelist from Perry whose preaching had impacted me as a new convert but who was called home unexpectedly at a young age. I thought about his widow, someone I had always admired, and I was filled with a desire to wash her feet. I also wanted to be open to however the Lord would direct us during our gathering.
I was greatly blessed when the Lord granted my desire. Kneeling before my sister, I shared the impact that her husband's ministry had on me as a newly baptized member of The Church. I then asked if she had any special needs. She shared that she was still mourning the loss of her mother, who had passed away earlier that year. She also had a great responsibility caring for her aging father, an elder in The Church who is greatly loved by all who know him.
As I prayed, I remembered these needs but also felt prompted to ask the Lord to extend his healing touch for any affliction that was burdening my sister. It truly was a wonderful and blessed time of sharing for everyone that day.
Several months later, we were in Perry for a Midwest Region event. Excitedly, my sister pulled me aside to ask if I remembered praying during feetwashing that God would heal any affliction upon her. (I did recall it.) She was thrilled to share that an infection she had been struggling with at the time was completely taken away and had not returned.
Praise God for his healing touch! He truly is a God of miracles!
