God Pays a Speeding Ticket

Today's money-related Miracle Monday is from Brother Jerry Valenti. Enjoy!
Over the years, God has routinely provided sufficient funds for our needs so my testimony of God's bounty is ongoing. However, there were a couple of occasions where I allowed myself to become disappointed regarding a financial setback and then God would step in and turn that disappointment into a blessing.
One such occurrence was during a time when we had a teenage youth group in Levittown that regularly got together for meetings and other activities. One night, we had scheduled an activity at a home that was a distance from where we usually met. One young sister didn't have transportation so I stopped by her house to pick her up. It was a school night so her mother asked me what time I would be bringing her home and I gave her a time based on the plan for the evening.
As it turned out, the activity went longer than expected and when it was time to leave, I saw there was no way I would be able to get the girl home by the time I had told her mother. Apparently thinking that I could drive 20 miles in 2 minutes, I starting driving quite fast and immediately passed a police car whose lights went on and I was pulled over and given a speeding ticket. The officer who gave me the ticket marked me as exceeding the speed limit by 21 mph (not 20 but 21) which was just enough to push me into the next bracket of fines, resulting in a $96 speeding ticket.
When I got home, I must say I was somewhat discouraged — I had spent the evening doing something good for the young people of the church and now I had a $96 fine to show for it.
I then remembered that I hadn't finished filing my tax return on my computer. I had filled it out the day before so I knew I had a $600 refund to file so I thought I would go ahead and finish that up so I would know some money was on its way back to me. As I checked it over, I found a place on one screen where I had forgotten to put a check in a box — when I checked the box, the refund amount on the screen changed from $600 to $696. God was paying for my speeding ticket!
Of course, I'm not encouraging anyone to break traffic laws and expect God to pay their fines. Although I obviously deserved a speeding ticket, I believe God performed this little miracle to help me get over my discouragement. It worked – I can't say I was ever more blessed in paying a fine, knowing that God had provided the money for this one.
Blessings from 2014
