God Listens Always
Today's Miracle Monday is a testimony shaerd by Brother Duane Werley. He relates a time when he asked God a question and got a direct answer.
"But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me." (Psalm 66: 19-20)
Several years ago before I was baptized, I was in a hospital waiting while my sister, Peggy Mance (Gibson), who was not baptized at this point either, had back surgery. She had cancer, and it had broken her back.
While riding in several different elevators looking for my other sister to let her know Peggy was about to be wheeled into surgery, I was praying in the elevator for her and asking God "Do you really hear my prayers? Will everything be OK?" As I looked up on the metal plate where the elevator buttons were, I saw the words "I hear your prayers my Son" appear before my eyes, and I was relieved.
After several hours of surgery and waiting, the doctor came out, and we could see he was visibly in tears. We were fearing the worst, but the doctor told us that while they were placing the metal braces in my sister's back, the flesh just wrapped itself around the brace without any help from the doctor. The doctor was praising God. She was not really expected to ever walk again, but two days later she did.
It was not too long after that event that we were both baptized into this wonderful church. She has long since passed, but I am so thankful to God for giving us that miracle that day and that she lived long enough to witness my baptism. I can still see her face on the day of my baptism as we were riding in the van to go to the waters. She held my face in her hands and sang "There's a new name written down in glory."
