Dream the Dream

Dream a dream, and each step brings you closer to living that dream.

Can my mind be boxed into little tiny thoughts and hopes, longing for small expectations day after monotonous day, or can I live with a dream, wrapped in joy, with an eye on the prize. I want to set my mind free. No walls, no barriers, no confines — just wide open sky.

Who can accomplish anything unless their heart is wrapped up with a desire to seek it, to attain the dream? Can I grow a plant unless I sow a seed? Can I build or create anything unless the thought of it is in my mind, heart, and soul? The desire must be strong, and my thoughts and prayers must nourish it before it can ever come to fruition.

Through the ages, dreamers have dreamed, and many lived to see their dreams come true.

  • Noah built an ark with the hope of safety from the flood.
  • Abraham Lincoln wanted Americans to be free from slavery.
  • Moses saw God deliver Israel out of the bondage of Egypt.
  • George Washington believed in a country free of tyranny.
  • From the bottom of a horrible pit to the confines of a prison, Joseph dreamed of seeing his father and brothers again and to return to the land of his inheritance.
  • Solomon dreamed of building a temple unto the one and only true God.

Prophets have foretold many impossible dreams, good and bad. Jerusalem destroyed? Never! The walls of Jericho falling down? Impossible! Think of Abraham on his way to sacrifice his son Isaac, still believing God could make him the father of many nations. Explorers have dreamed a dream and set off after that dream and accomplished what was thought to be impossible, their eyes seeing the unimaginable.

What is your dream? I would like to share my dream with you and invite you to dream along with me. Dream of Zion. Dream of the peace, the blessings, the joy, the glory. All sighing shall flee from our mouths, and it will be replaced with glorious singing. No sin. No curses. No wickedness. No need for armies or peace officers. The blessed of the Lord will be there.

Deserts will bloom; the ground will break forth with bounty; the lame will walk; the deaf will hear. Swords will become plows and spears pruning hooks. War and political strife will be banished. We will not ask, "Do you know the Lord?" Everywhere we go there will be a brother, sister, or friend.

I hold this dream close to my heart, keep it at the top of my mind, and let my soul fill with the joy of it.

Is this dream any more or less attainable than any other dream?

I want to dream about it, pray for it, long for it, eat the scriptural prophecies as if they are manna from heaven, and not allow thoughts of it to fade into the monotony of daily life.

Come on, jump on a star, dream of afar — nothing is impossible with God. When we are united in this dream, we can inspire others with hope. Let's encourage one another with the hope of the Peaceful Reign.

"Blessed are they who shall seek to bring forth my Zion at that day, for they shall have the gift and the power of the Holy Ghost." (1 Nephi 13:37)

What a BEAUTIFUL blog!! I want to jump into the dream you paint but such dreams take work on my part. I have made a commitment to follow the Lord in all things each and every day and to follow His commandments. I pray those commandments are written upon my heart so I may realize those beautiful dreams!! God bless you much!!
