Best of Miracle Monday: Before They Call, I Will Answer
For today's "Best of Miracle Monday," we're republishing "Before They Call, I Will Answer" from April 16, 2012 submitted by Brother Frank Natoli.
As a newly ordained elder in The Church of Jesus Christ, I was instructed to always carry a small bottle of blessed oil with me, in case someone contacted me and asked to be anointed (James 5:14-16).
One morning, I awoke, got ready for work, ate my breakfast, and got in my car to go to work. Before I walked out the door, I touched the outside of pants to feel for my little bottle of oil, but it wasn't there. I had forgotten it, so I went back to my room, placed it in my pants pocket and left for work.
The sun was just coming up, brightening the sky, as I approached a red light just around the corner from my home. It was early, and I felt like the only one on the road.
I stopped at the red light, like we all do, and patiently waited for it to turn green. When I saw the light turn, I pressed down on the accelerator, but the car didn't move.
Strange, I thought, what's wrong with my car? Then, suddenly, a speeding car flew through the intersection, running a red light, never coming close to slowing down!
My heart began to pound, and I immediately knew that I could have been killed or badly hurt had my car responded as it always did when I hit the gas pedal. With my heart still pounding, I sat quietly at the intersection, thanking God for sparing my life.
You may be wondering, what significance did the blessed oil play? I wasn't sick and no one called me to anoint them, but when I looked down at my pants, I saw a small stain about 1 inch in diameter. It wasn't there when I left my house, because I recalled looking at my pants and my pocket.
I looked again and realized the spot was exactly where I placed my little bottle of blessed oil (you know, the one I almost forgot). I reached awkwardly into my pocket and found that the bottle had a crack in it and that it leaked!
Now my heart was really pounding and tears came to my eyes. The bottle was new and never had a crack in it. I'd been carrying it with me for months. I knew the Lord was simply reminding me that His protection was upon me. Even before I called on Him, He answered (Isa. 65:24).
