Attention Youth! SSP Online Study Group
Proverbs 27:17 says, "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend."
Do you have any clue what this verse means?
Two friends are like two pieces of metal. They may clash at times, but they make each other sharper and stronger through the process. You see, there are few things more valuable in life than deep, lasting friendship. I'm not talking about friends who are just fun to hang out with occasionally. I'm talking about friends who challenge you to become a better person. Friends who hold you to a high spiritual standard. Friends who share your love for Jesus Christ.
Where do you find friends like these? How do you develop these types of spiritual relationships? This can be hard, especially in a society that blatantly disregards God's Word and pressures you to do the same. But these friends are out there, and God wants to help you find them.
For high school and college age young people who want to build these types of spiritual friendships, the SSP Online Study Group is a great tool to help. We plan to start in January of 2014, so here's what you can look forward to:
- Studying God's word with young people from across the country via live video chat
- Choose discussion topics of interest to you
- Guest speakers who can relate to a younger perspective
- A great way to build spiritual relationships with church friends from across the country
So, if you're an interested young person, how do you join?
First, register with the SSP online. Be sure to indicate that you want to participate in the SSP Online Study Group. Then we will send you a survey to gauge when most people are available to meet and what topics we will discuss.
For those too old to participate, please pray that God will bless this endeavor and that it will serve to spiritually fortify our youth. Then pass this message along to a young person who you think would benefit from it. Lastly, ask God to help you be the type of friend that will sharpen others through the Love of Christ.
If you're still not convinced, let Moses and Pharaoh explain it. (Please print the flyer below and post it in your branch or — better yet — put it in the hands of a young person!)
