A Great Way to Live
I'm sure many of us heard that famous quote, "Live your life in such a way that if someone said something bad about you, no one would believe it." They truly are words to live by. It's something I often tell my children — as well as myself — when I need an example of how to live life.
This quote really hit home with me when a certain situation recently happened to one of my friends. My friend is a very loving and caring person who loves God above all and loves her neighbor as herself. She has done so much good for her community and has come to the aid of so many. She has showed the love of God on many occasions. Many know her to be a true believer in God.
Well, it just so happened that the other day someone hacked into her computer and put up a status on her Facebook profile about her denouncing God and cursing him and carrying on by saying, "Why me? Why is all this happening to me?" She did not find out this status was on her Facebook page until later on that night; however, many of her friends commented on the status throughout the day and not one person believed it was her. All their reactions were the same: "You must have been hacked."
It was wonderful to see that! Since everyone knew how this woman lived her life — in such a way that if someone said something bad about her, no one would believe it — at that moment, no one did believe those nasty words.
I think about this. If my Facebook profile should ever get hacked and an awful God-dishonoring status appeared in my name, how many of my friends and family members would believe it? What about my co-workers and casual acquaintances? Do they know enough about my faith to disbelieve something like that?
We should think about how our actions come across to others. When I do, say, or write things, are they positive and loving, or do I leave doubt as to my character?
These are many questions I ask myself. It helps me when I refer to that good old famous quote, "Live your life in such a way, that if someone should say something bad about you, no one would believe it." My prayer to you is that this will stand true in your life like it did for my friend.
