A Crown Just for Me
For today's baptism-themed Miracle Monday, please enjoy the testimony of Sister Brianne Gehly.
May 2007 was a beautiful month spiritually for me. At May Conference, I was very moved by the message, which was the story of Abraham and Isaac (Genesis 22). "Love the Lord and He will do wonderful things for you. He will bless you if you work for Him. Love others as He has loved you" are a few notes I had written down from the Sunday meeting.
One Wednesday night after conference, we had a lesson about being saved and what God's people had to do. 1. Believe. 2. Repent. 3. Be baptized. 4. Receive the Holy Ghost. 5. Endure to the end. I believed, and I repented of my sins daily. It was time for me to move on to the next steps.
The Kinsman Ladies' Circle met for a meeting that same month on a Wednesday night. It was my first Ladies' Circle meeting. I felt different sitting in that chair in that circle. After the meeting, we stood and joined hands in a circle to close in prayer. During the prayer, the Spirit of God came greatly upon me and I started to shake. A voice was screaming inside me, "I want to be baptized, I want to be baptized, I want to be baptized!" Then the feeling was gone.
Friday of that week we had a girl's night at a sister's home. I was having a lot of fun, but baptism was on my mind the entire night. Her husband, who is an elder, was there, but, again, for some reason I was fighting it. The next day, I found myself over at the same home again, this time letting myself go and asking for my baptism.
So, in 2007, I was called into The Church of Jesus Christ. As I felt God's Spirit working with me, I knew I was supposed to be a part of HIS Church. He worked with me for years, and I finally gave myself to Him! I was baptized by water on June 10, 2007, and I received the reception of the Holy Ghost (baptism by fire).
It was a beautiful June morning as the saints gathered around the water's edge. During my baptism, a vision was seen of a personage in the water, and when I came up out of the water, the personage placed a white cloak over me. As I was receiving the reception of the Holy Ghost, another vision of a crown was seen being placed on my head. Both the brother confirming me and I felt his hands holding a crown.
God has blessed me tremendously by seeing me though everything leading up to my baptism, my constant struggle for my faith and search for the truth.
