Songs in Translation

A while back, I was asked to prepare a fun activity for the women of the Pacific Region Ladies' Circle to do at our recent retreat. I don't know how this crazy idea came to me, but I thought I'd share it with you all.

Impossible

Impossible

As children, we're told stories of things God has done that blows our minds. We've been told stories of Him sending ten plagues to Egypt, or even the fact that He created:
            Every.
                             Single.
                                                Star.

Take a Page From My Book

Take a Page From My Book

Just like the Song of Zion lyrics, "Not knowing how to go out or come in, Lord," I fret quite a bit. I ponder. I hesitate. I even "worry o'er the future." On those days when I wish I could have a face-to-face conversation with God about my worries, He reminds me that every answer to any question I have can be found in the pages of the word of God.

Let's take a look at His words of wisdom...

In the Shade of Trees of Righteousness

In the Shade of Trees of Righteousness

I often hear people say, "I wasn't raised in this Church..." or "I wasn't raised to have faith in Jesus Christ..." and then they proceed to say something like "...but I'm so thankful that I'm here" or "...I'm so thankful that He found me."

I, myself, was raised in The Church and taught to have faith in God, so I don't really know what life would be like without it. I've asked myself, "Do I fully realize what I have? Or do I take it for granted?"

Everyone Needs a Good Cry

Everyone Needs a Good Cry

We've all heard the phrase, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." Well, even the most optimistic person gets tired of lemonade, and sometimes lemonade does get old and sour.

One for the Dogs

One for the Dogs

My husband and I adopted a dog named Milo from an animal shelter. The shelter was not helpful in providing us with any information about him, other than he was house broken and wasn't a fan of cats.

Let It Burn

Let It Burn

Many of you (especially those of you who have kids in your life) are familiar with the Academy Award-winning and much-played (and parodied) song "Let It Go" from Disney's "Frozen." Well, as you'll read in today's Miracle Monday, Sister Flo Benyola recently found herself in the interesting position of saying, "Let it burn."

Prayers Big and Small, God Hears Them All

Prayers Big and Small, God Hears Them All

God always answers prayer. No matter what is prayed for — a healing, help with something, blessings on others — there is always an answer. It doesn't matter the size of the situation. He'll always take care of us. Two things recently happened in my life where prayers were answered almost immediately. One could be considered a pretty serious issue, while the other was a small thing.

Here's Looking at You, Kid

Here's Looking at You, Kid

"Jesus is always watching!" A little old sister in my branch scolded me, pointing to the half-eaten Sunday school treat in my tiny 7-year-old hand. "You have to wait to pray first!" I looked at her, wide-eyed and munching quickly to hide the evidence, thinking, "But I'm really hungry and it's just one little cookie!"

A Kind Word Goes a Long Way

A Kind Word Goes a Long Way

I'm a words girl, not a numbers girl. My husband is the numbers guy. He's the one with the budgeting spreadsheets and the mental calculator in his head. I, on the other hand, basically bring a lot of adjectives to the table. Beautiful, splendid, magniferous, wonderiffic words.

God's Miraculous Touch

God's Miraculous Touch

Welcome to another week on the blog! Today's Miracle Monday is Sister Teresa Pandone's testimony of how God worked in her family during an extended period of fasting and prayer (approximately 2 years!).

My husband, Don, and I nurtured and trained our children in the ways of God. Our son, Michael, attended church until he was 18 and then decided he wanted his own apartment, and for the next eight years, Michael did not attend church.
